Almarada

A Spanish style of dagger, also nicknamed “bandit daggers” or “ruffian daggers”, they were popular in the 17th and 18th century particularly among bandits of the time, and were typically worn in the boot. They came in a variety of different shapes, with the primary trait consistent among them all being that weird “button” on the handle. This button functions as a low profile guard of sorts, allowing you to have an easily concealed and streamlined dagger which you can still safely thrust with without any risk of your hand sliding up onto the blade.

Based on the Spanish Almarada, or “ruffian dagger”, this is a simple enough dagger that was historically carried in the boot.
